How to successfully start a social media campaign
Social media along with social media optimization can bring in lots of targeted traffic to your website when done properly.
The most important thing that you can do before starting a social media campaign is planning. You want to answer the following questions before you start.
- What are your goals/objectives?
Do you want more leads, more direct sales, conversions, brand engagement, newsletter signups, etc.
Decide upon 1 main goal and have 1-3 secondary goals - Who do you want to reach?
What interests your target client?
Where do they spend their time online?
Researching to find the answers to these questions will pay off in the long run. - Which social media platforms are you going to use?
Blogs, forums, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. LinkedIn and Facebook are the two most popular and are two that you will want to begin with.
The next step is to participate and become part of the the community and contribute. You can do this by commenting on other blogs, join in forum discussions, follow people and tweet on twitter. By participating, you will start to engage actual conversations with potential clients. They will start to follow your social media and eventually to your website. When you are participating, you want to provide real value to people. Give people honest, authentic answers and you will be looked upon highly.
The final step is to measure your results. You can do this through google analytics. You will be able to see if people are coming to your website from your blog, twitter, facebook, etc. You will also want to search sites like Del.icio.us and StumbleUpon to see if people are adding links to your information.
When you plan your social media campaign properly, you will be able to monetize from it. Keep with it and you will see the results.
